Digital signage company Amscreen has announced a trial deployment with ASDA, the UK's second largest supermarket, which will see the company's close-proximity signage units installed in Asda's brand new store in Keighley, Bradford.
The screens will initially be installed at the pharmacy and photography / technology counters in the store and will carry product and pricing information, keeping customers informed of what is happening throughout the store and making pricing offers and deals more visible.
There will also be a unit in the colleague area that will provide an immediate and interesting way to communicate with colleagues. ASDA will be utilising Amscreen's bespoke 'plug and play' technology, which allows screen content to be updated remotely and in real time without the need for any extra cabling or IT infrastructure, on site.
The deal comes at a time when the Digital Out of Home market is buoyant, with the size of market ever-growing and expected to a value of up to £200 million by 2012.
Brian Rutherford, Head of Store Design and Retail Development at ASDA commented: "We are excited to be working with Amscreen on this and believe the technology will allow us to communicate effectively with our customers in a dynamic and interesting way, giving them a better in-store experience via technology that can be deployed without fuss or disruption."
Simon Sugar, CEO at Amscreen added: "We are delighted to be working with ASDA and believe that our unique 'plug and play' system offers a practical and cost-effective way to communicate in real time with both customers and colleagues via an engaging format."
