Amscreen begins BP store roll-out

Digital signage company Amscreen has installed its first units in BP service stations since becoming the company's exclusive digital signage partner. The initial seven stores, including prime sites in London and Buckinghamshire, are the first to begin broadcasting on the Amscreen Convenience Store Network, which enables the screening of customer information, live traffic updates and advertising for BP products and services.

Amscreen announced in April 2009 that it had secured the contract with BP, which will see the company's close-proximity signage units installed in BP's 335 company-owned sites throughout 2009, with the concept being offered to BP's 800 dealer partners towards the end of the year. The UK-wide network will carry messages from national and regional advertisers who are eager to reach the 7 million motorists who use BP forecourts each week, in addition to BP customer messages. Advertising sales for the network are being handled by independent media sales house Digicom.

The launch of the network comes at a time when the Digital Out of Home market is buoyant, with the size of market ever-growing and expected to a value of up to £200 million by 2012. The network will be utilising Amscreen's bespoke 'plug and play' technology, which allows screen content to be remotely updated without the need for any extra cabling or IT input, on site.
